"Thank you to everyone for coming out to tryouts.  We had a great turn out for tryouts and 2 players have accepted invitations to join our team for next season.  I'd like to welcome Maddie Ottsen and Alexa Thein to our team.  Maddie played with the Woodchips last year and Alexa comes to us from the St. Clare - Flores team.  Please make sure that everyone says hi to the girls and their parents (Mike and Heidi Ottsen and Sara and Jason Thein). 
 
I'm happy to say that all 14 of our girls that wanted to come back are going to be back and Maddie and Alexa are going to help our team grow.  I'm looking forward to working with the girls next year and really pushing ourselves to the next level.
 
Once again, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to coach your daughters.

Opportunities for parents and girls-information

Parents,
A few volunteer opportunities for the parents have come up and there is an opportunity for some of the girls to make some money for themselves in the future.

Second, the club has been running a bingo session as a fundraiser for the club every Wednesday night since the middle of March.  Apparently, it has been successful to the point where we are going to be doing this on an ongoing, annual basis.  However, the club does need 3 -4 volunteers at each session from 5 to 9 on a Wednesday night to keep the sessions going.  It's my understanding that as we move forward teams that provide volunteers will receive the proceeds from the night(s) that they work.  The location is in south county.  I am going to try and get down there on the 18th or the 25th of this month to see how it goes.  I can drive.  If anyone is interested in helping out please let me know asap.

Finally, Brighton wants to begin refereeing games in the fall.  To do this she needs to get certified with the state as a referee.  SLYSA is running a referee certification class at their office in Fenton.  They have put together a 15 hour class (2 nights and a Saturday morning) that will be available to all parents, coaches or players (13 years and older) that will be no cost for the class (Referee is responsible for the $30.00 Referee registration fee).  We will also provide a uniform, flags and whistle.

The class will be held Tuesday August 5th 6:00-9:30, Thursday August 7th 6:00-9:30 and Saturday August 9th – 9:00-5:00 at the SLYSA office in Fenton (near Soccer Park) 2275 Cassens Dr, Fenton, MO 63026.

Cost of class – Free

Cost of Registration - $30.00

Uniform cost (Shirt, shorts, socks, whistle, red/yellow cards, flags) – free

The age requirement is more of a guideline than a rule.  If they are close to 13 and ready to Ref then Randy will accept them.  Brighton and I will be signing up for the class in August.  No, I don't have time to ref but I want to know what they are training the referees to call.
